Pray Every Day
Why Prayer Matters
Just as God’s word is His primary way of communicating with us, prayer is our primary way of communicating with God. It builds our relationship with Him, strengthens our faith, and allows us to seek His guidance. Through prayer, we express our gratitude, confess our sins, and bring our concerns before Him.
The Basics of Prayer
-
Talk to God Honestly – He knows your heart, so speak openly.
-
Listen to God – Prayer is not just speaking; it’s also listening for His guidance as the Holy Spirit reveals Jesus to you.
-
Use Scripture in Prayer – The Bible can help shape your prayers (e.g., praying Psalms), and its also nice to remind God about His promises.
-
Pray with Faith – Believe that God hears and answers prayer in His perfect timing.
How to Pray
-
Start with Praise – Thank God for who He is and what He has done.
-
Confess Your Sins – Seek His forgiveness and cleansing.
-
Ask for Help – Bring your needs and concerns before Him.
-
Pray for Others – Intercede for family, friends, and the world.
-
Listen and Be Still – Spend time in silence, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you.
Hearing the Holy Spirit
God often speaks to us in different ways:
-
Through Scripture – A verse may stand out to you which applies to a certain area in your life.
-
Through Peace – A deep sense of peace or conviction can be His voice, Jesus promised to leave His peace for us, and we can experience it in prayer through the working of the Holy Spirit.
-
Through Other Believers – God may use others to speak into your life.
-
Through Circumstances – He can guide you through events and open/closed doors.
